ヒツジの毛刈り（和訳②）
Sunday 2nd
５月２日（日曜日）
Today was hot again but I had remembered to bring a hat to cover the sunburn I got the day before.
今日も暑かったけど昨日できた日焼けをカバーする帽子をちゃんともってきたよ。
First up today was Reiji with Goto doing the shearing and myself as assistant.
今日の最初はGoto君が礼二の毛を刈り、自分はアシスタント
Luckily this time the clippers were cutting beautifully and Goto had shaved one side of Reji in the blink of and eye.
この時バリカンは見事な切れ味で、Goto君は礼二の片側を瞬く間に刈ってしまった。
Unfortunately there were a lot more people who wanted to have a go than Yesterday and not much wool left to cut so we had to make each turn a little shorted than yesterday.
残念なことに、毛刈りをしたい人が昨日よりも沢山いたのにあんまりヒツジの毛がのこっていなかったのだ。だからワタシ達は昨日よりも少しずつ毛を刈ったんだよ。
This was not a problem though as everyone had a turn and looked like they had a lot of fun.
でもみんな毛刈りできたし楽しそうだったからそんなに問題じゃなかった。
Usually we feel a little sorry for the sheep as we can see how uncomfortable it is for them but with Reiji its different.
ふつうワタシ達は羊に「ごめんね」と思うのだけれど、礼二は別。
Reiji manages to hit everyone at the farm with a surprise attack from behind at least once year so we feel like this is payback.
礼二はファームのみんなに、少なくとも１年に一度は背後から頭突きをくらわすので、仕返しした気分になる。
Being hit by Reiji is like a right of passage at NL Farm. Ken got his initiation on Friday!!!!
礼二の頭突きはNL Farmでの通過儀式のようなもので、ケンは金曜日に受けたんだって！
Last Sheep for this year was Choppy with Tsutomu doing the honors.
今年トリを飾るヒツジ・チョッピーを刈るのはたいちょう。
Once again the clippers were working well and after breezing through one side, we flipped Choppy over and let everyone have a go.
またしてもバリカンはよく切れて、片側を刈った後ひっくり返してみんなに刈ってもらった。
Once again, everyone had a lot of fun and was very interested in the process.
今回もみんな楽しく毛刈りに興味を持って刈ってくれたよ。
We also moved the seats in a lot closer this time so everyone could get a closed look at what goes on.
今回はシートを動かしてみんながもっと近くでなにが起こっているのか見られるようにした。
